Our new <TOG*>-RETRO devices are a direct plug-in replacement for the originals.
They are made possible by using FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) technology which in recent years has become small enough to use in devices of this size, using a double stack of PCBs.
Unlike our FK50240 top octave synthesiser, the top octave generators only provide the original tuning.
*the “<TOG>” is replaced with a generic part number for devices that had the same pin-out
All our 14-pin retros are now functionally identical to the originals. They are still a bit taller & a bit heavier, but you no longer need to tell us which instrument you need the replacement for, they just work!.
The -ve supply on pin 6 works down to -25V and the VBB supply on pin 7 can be anything down to -20V, which is what the original did.
Single devices can now be used for either 5832/5833 or 5555/5556. By drilling out combinations of the two plated holes, the output notes change to suit. So it is possible to buy two of the same and modify as required. Note that you will need a 0.8mm PCB drill. You can also remove the resistor indicated to prevent output on pin 14.
