SAA1030
Most of the devices on our site were requested, so if you need something, feel free to request it!
Our new SAA1030-RETRO device is a direct plug-in replacement for the original. It operates from 4-25v and has a 10kHz-16MHz input clock range; both of which exceed the original specification. The original clock specification was 8v; our device accepts anything from 3v peak to 20v peak, which again exceeds the original. Finally, the supply current of our SAA1030-RETRO is under 7mA, the original was 8mA.
It is made possible by using FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) technology which in recent years has become small enough to use in devices of this size. There is a double stack of PCBs, which are connected together using "brick nogging" connectors (a first for us!).
Unlike our FK50240 top octave synthesiser, the SAA1030-RETRO only provides the original tuning.
We know that the SAA1030 was used in the Solina string ensemble, but there were others....
The SAA1030-RETRO is now available to buy below.
